Wish List “New World”

Wish List

At the age of 11, I wrote a wish list in my diary stating the following:

I wish for:

  • no more war
  • none is supposed to starve
  • no experiments with animals
  • everyone should be happy
  • Germany should be reunited
  • luck, happiness, peace and love

That was back in 1988. It was during a time frame, when Nena’s “99 Luftballons” were flying around the globe for 5 years. The movie “The day after” was released in 1983 too, showing the killing and damage a nuclear bomb would cause. The Eighties was a time period, when we felt the presence of the Cold War. Nuclear bombs became big and were used as a sign of power and to threaten. Even at that young age, growing up in Germany, I followed up on this. I got the rough idea, we need to do anything to turn around and to not get deeper into this world wide quarrel. I organized peace exhibitions at school, explaining how bad a nuclear war would hit us.

I always have been a person standing up for the underdogs, peaceful fighting for justice and being very empathetic. Morals and ethics was something I really thought about and that I took serious, always trying my best to grow and become a better person myself. I do have this huge passionate heart – so all this was a self understanding to me. It always has been like that.

So until today I had to learn that we may not take our freedom, wealth and choice for granted. I understood that we need to do something more for it, in order to secure a peaceful life on this planet. The challenges even grew bigger within the past centuries, looking at the condition our planet is in, the shrinking resources, overpopulation, our wrong idea of being rather selfish and relying on our own, instead of cooperating. Unfortunately this world we are living in nowadays is populated by very selfish and self centered people, always wanting more, without any limits thinking it is their right to ask for anything. It is a small amount of people taking advantage of other people and other living beings, who can not protect themselves. It’s a big exploitation of animals, people and mother nature going on.
A lot of problems, we are facing. During the past centuries we were able to watch the changes in this world in detail, so by now – we simply can not ignore it any longer!

Saying this, you certainly have to come up with the conclusion that changes are urgently necessary! It’s a homemade problem! And this is where we need to start. We need to rethink, learn, understand and teach others. It is us human beings, our behavior, our respect, morals and ethics we gotta work on first. We need to change. We need to start educate our children in a different way, so they can cherish the world we are living in, cherish all living beings and acting more responsible than we did.

In a world where we do have the world wide web, where we use airplanes to fly around the globe, we can not continue with selfishness or only watching out for our closest family or country. It is a big we. It is one world, we all are living in. We are depended on each other. This is a whole different way of living together on this planet, a big “WE” and huge responsibilities we all need to take over.

This is a rough picture I showed and changes need to be done anywhere. Through a lot of new and different laws, but mainly by a different education of our children! We all need to widen our horizon and we certainly need to learn to be “human” again and finally start being responsible. Afterwards, we can do the next steps, which is – saving the planet we all are living on! “Fridays for future” is a very small beginning and it is a step into the right direction. Now we need to identify the next important steps we gotta do on this planet, taking it serious and come up with action instead of just talking and waiting. The alarm clock already was ringing. Now we need to get up, each and anyone of us!

I like to dedicate these thoughts to the “New World Blogparade” by Wicca Secret.

Writing down my thoughts should cover the attempt of motivation, touching other people’s souls. I’m afraid that every day life made us a kinda numb, which means – we need to break out first!

To give some more specific suggestions on how to proceed: I feel we need to start with ourselves and our understanding first. Second it’s our children. We need to totally change the school system: it’s “One World” and we need to be able to communicate with each other. Responsibility, togetherness, ethics, the understanding of one world, saving our planet and so on should be taught regularly in school and there definitely must be a focus on it. Meanwhile we have to stop the pollution of our planet right away and we need to find a way to unite the world, in order to be able to survive on mother earth.

Wunschliste

“Living a responsible life and being aware to pass this planet on to the next generation. This is the world we should be wanting to live in.”

Was sagen Sie hier ist die Wahrheit, and you have said it perfectly und haben Sie so perfekt Gespräche. Danke!

I loved this article! I agree with everything, but I do hope that what exactly is being taught in school is fair and balanced. It’s getting really out of balance here in American school systems. The New Generation is being incited to outrage by THE SCHOOLS SYSTEM, and that’s not their place. Focus is one sided, and it is the school system that is teaching morals; not the family.

Families need support, too…but so many parents have to work too much to keep connected to their children as they learn things in school that are fairly biased now. In trying to make every single type of person ok they also make everything discriminating…every difference between people has to be highlighted. All I see is the anger and bigotry it creates in people. If there is a benefit, I’m not seeing it.

What do you think should be taught in schools? I’d love to hear your view because we need to put our ideas out there and gain a new consensus; innovate considerations that are balanced. What do you think?

I tried to write this in German, but it took 20 minutes to try and make it sound good from what I know how to say. When I read it back, I sounded like a 3 year old trying to talk about physics. Sorry. LOL…You should have seen it. I almost posted it anyway as a joke, but it was WAY too embarrassing. I blushed when I read it. LOL

    Tschüß!

    Thanks!!!

    1. Dear Ian, I appreciate your feedback a lot and feel very honored you are picking up my thoughts and add yours to it. It is a wonderful exchange that I cherish a lot. Thanks for everything.

It is interesting thinking about changes the future needs and how to get there, being ambitious and at the same time, just start walking that way. Every journey begins with the decision to do it and with the first step. Key-point probably is to start action.

In ideal world family raise their own children and teach them good manners, what’s wrong and whats right, being empathetic, helpful and so much more. In ideal world family do have the time and have learned ethics and a loving behavior themselves. Truth is, nowadays most family members need to work in order to secure enough income to support the family. So who is raising the children? Normally it shouldn’t be school doing so, but the school system has to adapt to the new given situation too. We need to be able to become beyond anger and jealousy.

What to teach in school!? Besides knowledge we should add and focus on something like “humanism”. Part of this has to be teaching morals, ethics, how to deal with conflict situations and criticism, questioning life as far as real world and fakes is concerned. It is important to be open minded and always wanting to learn and to grow. Helping others, asking for and excepting help too. I remember that back in school I found myself thinking that knowledge sure is important but most stuff taught at school does not prepare me for real life and for the challenges the working life will hold.

Now bare in mind that we currently stick to our smartphones for socializing. A lot of people use it for interaction with the world and for communication instead of really taking over a part in real life. This sure has a huge impact on people interacting. I doubt it is for the good.
…so much to think of, very emotional and complex topic. I understand it was difficult for you to write your ideas in German, still I totally appreciate you tried!

I love your compassionate optimism; something to model and be reminded of…which you did

It is a perfect wish list for the world! But the saying of “How Do You Eat An Elephant?” comes to mind.
The answer is one bite at a time… In as much as I agree with the items listed, one needs to start to work on each a little at a time and encourage others to do the same. Which is what I feel you are trying to do with your post! I am very encouraged that more young people are trying to make a difference in the World they are inheriting but change is a process that takes time and sometimes generations for the fruit of that labor to be realized. Excellent Topic and post! Thank You!

  3. Thank you Red Rider for getting involved and leaving a note! I love the expression “How Do You Eat An Elephant”! Being ambitious sure is one side on the other hand we all know that it takes more besides talking. We need to take action! It is on each and every one of us to start changes and it sure is something we shouldn’t search for in the distance, it is about here and now. At the same time, we have to be patient and hang in too, you are right about that. Thanks for adding your thoughts!

Thanks for this stirring and powerful article! These are thoughts that I definitely share and that I try to transport as a mother of a three years old, a teacher (https://mutter-und-sohn.blog/2019/06/08/mrs-keating-mein-beruf-mein-leben-und-ich/) and also while writing my blog. Good to here that there are people like you that I can share my thoughts with!🙂 Best regards, Sarah
