Dec. 2008 || I found myself alone in Cuba by accident. It never has been my desire coming here, but I am more than happy I did. I really enjoy Habana a lot: the whole atmosphere, the oldtimer cars, the arts and crafts, the bars and music. It is the place to be! Just like anyone else, I enjoy hanging out at the Malicon, which is the long side walk next to the ocean. You gotta hang out around here, once the afternoon cools down. Meeting new friends at the Malicon, singing and dancing along while someone plays the guitar. I met many interesting and very kind people so far.
I made a one week field-trip too, as I wanted to see the chalk hills, visit some tobacco plantations and see the wonderful countryside too. It’s absolutely stunning.
I love the people, their happiness and frugality. They don’t have much, but they are open. They share and make the best out of any situation. It feels good to simply go with the flow, to participate and enjoy the life of the locals. I’m having a blast. I love Raggaton and the Cuban way of life! I admire their pride and sophistication, I love how they make me feel welcome and cherished. I love the food and the old Cuban rum! Cheers! Sent with a big smile. Yours, Sovely

Dezember 2008 || Ich fand mich zufällig allein in Kuba wieder. Es war nie mein Wunsch, hierher zu kommen, aber ich bin mehr als glücklich, dass ich hier bin! Habana gefällt mir sehr gut: die ganze Atmosphäre, die Oldtimer-Autos, die Kultur, die Bars und die Musik. Es ist der „place to be“! Wie alle anderen, genieße ich es, am Malicon abzuhängen, dem langen Fußgängerweg am Meer. Man kommt her, wenn sich am Nachmittag abgekühlt. Neue Freunde Treffen, mit singen und tanzen, während jemand Gitarre spielt. Ich habe bereits viele interessante und großartige Leute getroffen.
Ich machte auch einen einwöchigen Ausflug, da ich die Kreidehügel sehen, einige Tabakplantagen besuchen und auch die wundervolle Landschaft erleben wollte. Es ist absolut umwerfend.
Ich liebe die Menschen, ihre Fröhlichkeit und Leichtsinn, ihre Kultiviertheit, das Temperament und die Genügsamkeit. Sie haben nicht viel, aber sie sind offen. Sie teilen und machen das Beste aus jeder Situation. Es fühlt sich gut an, sich hier einfach treiben zu lasse, teilhaben und das Leben der Einheimischen zu genießen. Ich habe eine grandiose Zeit. Ich liebe Raggaton und die kubanische Lebensweise! Ich bewundere den Stolz und die Raffinesse, ich liebe es, wie sie mir das Gefühl geben, willkommen und geschätzt zu sein. Ich liebe das Essen und den alten kubanischen Rum! Prost! Mit einem großen Lächeln geschickt. Eure, Sovely
