When souls meet…

When souls meet that are meant to be together, they‘ll meet over and over again. Trust – it is a deep connection they share that draws them together. It’s their karma, some kind of mission…

When souls really do meet, it is meant to be and can be really intense and explosive!

Ever experienced something like that?! Than you’ll know what I’m talking about and why it’s heartfelt for me, to do my share in the following story:

Kerstin mother of two boys (6 & 9) and her husband Steffen are a German family, who for the first time fulfilled their dream of going on a family vacation. They had to save their money in order to do so…

Their journey took them to the south west of Turkey. In the vast beauty of the country side a touching story is about to unfold:

„We fell in love with the Kas region, more specifically Patara, but even more with our loving 18-month-old street-dog Ben. From day one he greeted and accompanied us at our apartment. He even showed us the long, hour-long walk to the beach, stayed faithfully by our side for five hours and then returned with us. He slept outside our door and looked after us. It was love at first sight and everyone is completely amazed by his loving but unobtrusive character!

Ben has great body language and is friendly to other street dogs and animals. An absolute dream dog. We left him behind with a heavy heart. On the one hand, it costs a lot of money to get him medical care first (initial vaccination, castration, rabies vaccination, flea and tick treatment, titer determination, paperwork such as health certificate, pet ID card, laboratory costs) and at the same time in one to accommodate a foster family and then have him flown out in a transport box. All this will be a lot for a dog, who has no idea what is happening to him.

We wanted to be sensible from a financial and organizational point of view, think everything through carefully.

It was the toughest thing to leave Ben in his usual surroundings and living situation, in which he unfortunately has to fight for survival every day. The farewell was terrible and my sons and I cried a lot. It hurt like severe heartbreak, because there was a very deep connection between us.

Who has a heart and can help us get the money together to cover the costs?

We are now networked in the region and our host offered to take Ben to the vet to get the procedure started. An animal welfare organization would help me find a foster family. If everything goes well, Ben will do his big journey in September and I will be there to pick him up in Antalya.
