“I see you.”

How do you feel if you hear someone saying “I see you.”? What crosses your mind hearing those three words?

I actually feel blessed hearing it. To me it sounds like a lovesong. Happy about life as I may use all my senses. It’s nothing we should take for granted. Especially if it comes to people out there you interact with, it seems to be some kind of need to most human beings. Seeing. And especially being seen is something essential. Just imagine a day when the whole world seems to be ignoring you, when there is none around, who pays attention to you. Imagine the feeling you exist, but none responds to you. A grey day if you shine brightly – but only for yourself. Depressing. Frustrating.

And now imagine the person you love telling you that you are seen!
You are seen for who you are, with all your colors and shades. Isn’t that a true gift and a wonderful compliment?! Being seen makes your heart humble and you should be dancing for joy.

“Ich sehe dich.”

Wie fühlt man sich, wenn jemand einem sagt: “Ich sehe dich”? Woran denkt man, wenn man diese drei Wörter hört?

Ich fühle mich reich und gesegnet, wenn ich es höre. Es klingt für mich wie ein Liebeslied. Glücklich über das Leben, denn ich kann all meine Sinne nutzen. Es ist nichts Selbstverständliches. Vor allem, wenn es um Menschen da draußen geht, mit denen man interagiert, scheint es für die meisten eine Art Grundbedürfnis zu sein. Sehen. Und vor allem „gesehen werden“ ist etwas Wesentliches. Stell dir einen Tag vor, an dem die ganze Welt dich ignoriert. Ein Tag, an dem es niemanden gibt, der dich beachtet. Stelle dir das Gefühl vor, dass du existierst, aber keiner dir eine Rückmeldung gibt. Ein grauer Tag, wenn niemand deinen Glanz sieht. Bedrückend. Frustrierend.


Und nun stelle dir vor, dass die Person, die du liebst dir sagt “Ich sehe dich”.
Man sieht dich, so wie du bist, mit all deinen Farben und Schattierungen. Ist das nicht ein wahres Geschenk und ein wunderbares Kompliment?! Gesehen werden stimmt dein Herz demütig und lässt dich vor Freude tanzen.

    Ich sehe Sich auch in dem, was Sie hier geschrieben hast. LOL…It’s been a long time since I took two years of German in high school. Ich kann noch null kinder Deutsch sprechen (that doesn’t look exactly right…but it has been 40 years.

    Anyway, what you said was really beautiful; sehr Shön. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful thought. I think people do feel alone even surrounded by so many people. And when someone stops…and really looks, It’s no so hard to see yourself in them…and in that, we are never really alone.

    It will take practice. But I sure am glad you brought this up. It’s said with a beautiful spirit.

      Thank you so much Ian for coming by and leaving a note. I really appreciate it as this is, what makes my writing become more alive.

      Interesting you had German language classes back in school, I assume it’s not comon. Anyhow it’s great to be open to other people and cultures. I always try my best too – and yes, it needs practice.

      No, German isn’t very common in America, but there is A LOT that is influenced by German immigrants in our country stemming though out our history; our language being one of them. English, you see, is considered a Germanic” language. German, actually, wasn’t hard for me at all!
      Except the gendering of every single noun and no particular rule for a foreigner to figure out what is masculine, feminine or neuter and how those change by tense.

      Mine Großvater war aus die Schweitz, und so ich hat Deutsch gelernt. Er hat Deutsch und Schweitzedeutsch gesprocht. Wir können zusammen Deutsch gesprochen,

      Mine Großvater ist jetzt Tot, und ich habe sehr veil vorgessen.

      See, I still remember but mostly can speak only as a child speaks…a very young child…LOL

    I love this blog post, and you are very right in saying “I see you ” does make you feel blessed. In a world where we often do not look up from our smartphones this is truly a blessing indeed. For someone to say they see you can mean you are no longer invisible to the world. Thanks again 💖💖💖

    Ich denke bei diesen drei Worten an den Film Avatar, der mich sehr berührt hat. “Ich sehe dich”- so wie du bist. Ich sehe, oder fühle, deinen Wesenskern. Durch alle
    Abwehrmechanismen und Masken hindurch. Diese Worte haben es mir echt angetan.
